As it begins, so it ends. I played (probably) my last laptop battle tonight, and just like my first, I lost early to the person who won it all. This time it was the up-and-comer "m.0", instead of the seasoned veteran Moon, and this time I was the reigning champion instead of "just some dude off the street." Surprisingly, it was still more similar than different.

The nice news is that my friend Dave got to the finals and will have a chance to represent Seattle at the national battle as a result. All through the battle he performed tracks that we'd written jointly, so in a way my music continued to move the crowd even as I stepped aside. This was a good way for things to turn out, and a fitting close for this chapter in my musical endeavors.

Next project: peaceful music.

Things have been quiet on the blog for a while. Most of my desire to write has been used up on OK/Cancel articles, but this has been a week for reflection so the time seems right. A couple things have got me thinking lately: new essays by Dyske and Paul Graham, a discussion of Science and Religion on Science Friday, and a week of drizzle.

I had the idea that I would create a new section of my site for essays and other writing, but instead I worked on some music, a mix, and this short 'film'.

In Boston this week. The leaves are just starting to turn. I wandered the freedom trail recording the sounds of the city, and caught a public speech by some coalition for Cuban Americans which praised both Che Guevara and Ronald Regan in the same speech. Stange. Also there was a Taiwanese flag up for some reason.
